2017 Jeep Patriot Review: An Affordable Boxy Classic Jeep-Inspired SUV Only a Mother Could Love [VIDEO]

The recently launched 2017 Jeep Patriot has been receiving a lot of negative criticism lately due to Jeep’s lack of enthusiasm towards its design and overall features. However, there are those that argue that the new SUV is still quite a good product given its affordability and its off-road capabilities.

Several auto-centric publications and websites have been giving the 2017 Jeep Patriot very low ratings since it was launched. The Car Connection website gave the new Jeep a 4.7 out of 10 rating, making it part of the lower half of the site’s top-rated vehicles. Some of the complaints that were mentioned on the website were the vehicle’s out-dated interior.

It was also pointed out that the 2017 Jeep Patriot is really unbecoming of the Jeep brand based on its lack of newer technologies and safety features. A lot of complaints have also been made towards the vehicles lack of amenities that other manufacturers are offering with their similarly priced products.

Car and Driver also gave the 2017 Jeep Patriot a rather low rating, with just 1.5 stars out of 5. The publication does mention that the 2017 Jeep Patriot is still a decent and affordable car with a Jeep badge, but it does lack the refinement befitting of the marquee. Cheap plastics and a coarse engine are also mentioned in the publication’s review.

The 2017 Jeep Patriot still remains to be one of the most affordable off-roaders in the market today. Being under the $30,000 mark is also an attractive proposition for some buyers, as they are still getting a Jeep-branded vehicle. Despite its drawbacks, classic Jeep fans will still likely appreciate its rustic boxy styling.

The 2017 Jeep Patriot comes with either a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine that generates 158 horsepower or a 2.4-liter four cylinder engine that has 172 horsepower. Buyers of the 2017 Jeep Patriot will also have the option to get three different transmissions. The three transmission options include a five-speed manual, a continually variable transmission (CVT), or a six-speed automatic. Source: enstarz
