YouTube Suspends Ads From Logan Paul's Channel Amid Controversial Video

YouTube star Logan Paul is under scrutiny yet again for a video posted to his channel this week showing him using a stun gun on dead rats PETA Statement: Logan Paul Finds Humor in Suffering and Death

The decision came shortly after Paul posted a video of himself tasering two dead rats and removing a fish from his pond before attempting to resuscitate it using CPR.

Paul briefly stepped away from making daily posts and returned January 24 with an anti-suicide video in which he said he was humbled by the criticism and promised to be more compassionate and to "start a new chapter" in his life.

Rather than respectfully leaving the individual alone, the YouTuber, who has over 15 million followers, filmed the body and made a vlog out of the experience.

In a video uploaded to his channel this week, Paul and a pair of friends encounter a two dead rats on a patio and briefly discuss how to dispose of the carcasses.

Paul's manager and publicist didn't respond to requests for comment on Friday. And he reportedly tweeted "swallowing 1 tide pod per retweet" on the same day, in reference to the risky Tide Pod challenge, in which people record themselves eating detergent packets and post the videos to social media.

This move by YouTube is a temporary one, according to the company.

YouTube had never been fully transparent about what channels reached the Preferred level, and when advertisers looked into it they found many videos fell short of the "premium" promise. While the video drew millions of views, it also drew fervent rebukes from people on social media who said it made light of a tragic issue. Then on February 4th, he posted a video that bragged about how he gained over a million subscribers during his break. He quickly removed the video, but the damage had already been done and YouTube removed him from their top-tier advertising.

But that seems to be a problem for YouTube, which is now punishing Paul for failing to follow its advertiser policy guidelines.

It is not known how much the decision to suspend the adverts will cost Paul.

"As you guys know, YouTube cut my adsense in half", he says in the video, before YouTube pulled all his ad revenue, "so I am gonna need you guys to buy all my merch, Marverick merch, of course, so I don't lose my house".

- Video Recommendations: The company may also remove a channel's eligibility to be recommended on YouTube, such as appearing on our home page, trending tab or watch next.
