US Intel Chief: Pak based Terrorist groups can Continue Attacks in India! US 2018 elections 'under attack' by Russia -US intelligence chief

"At a minimum, we expect Russian Federation to continue using propaganda, social media, false-flag personas, sympathetic spokespeople, and other means of influence to try to exacerbate social and political fissures in the United States", Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said in his opening statement at the hearing.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said Tuesday that North Korea poses an "evermore-increasing threat" to the United States.

"This is an existential threat, potentially to the United States, but also to North Korea", he added.

Without a "doctrine of deterrents" in place, King then asked Coats how the USA could "ever get on top" of hackers if "all we ever do is patch our software and try to defend ourselves?"

CIA Director Mike Pompeo testified on Tuesday that President Donald Trump's suggestion that the agency had spent thousands to buy damaging information about him was based on "atrocious" and "ridiculous" information.

With voting in some parts of the country beginning in March, the intelligence community is educating state and local governments for the attacks, he said.

During a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing in Washington, D.C., the directors of the CIA, FBI, National Intelligence, National Security Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency were asked to reaffirm their view that Moscow's election meddling has continued since the election of President Trump.

Mattis agreed past year that the greatest threat to national security is the federal debt.

Coats, which coordinates all intelligence services, explained that Moscow considers intrusion into voting processes-through cyber to steal information and/or disseminate propaganda-a "tool of low risk and effective in propitiating divisions ".

The assessment comes amid biting politics surrounding ongoing federal investigations into what intelligence officials say was an expansive Russian meddling operation created to disrupt the 2016 US presidential election. Rather, as Central Intelligence Agency director Mike Pompeo observed, North Korea seeks to remain a nuclear threat to the United States.

"The risk of interstate conflict, including among great powers, is higher than at any time since the end of the Cold War", Coats said.

Coat said Pakistan's perception of its eroding position relative to India, reinforced by endemic economic weakness and domestic security issues, nearly certainly will exacerbate long-held fears of isolation and drive Islamabad's pursuit of actions that run counter to United States goals for the region.

"I encourage our folks not to get too hung up on what I consider to be the noise on TV and social media", Wray said. "The Russians have a strategy that goes well beyond what is happening in the United States".

Other times, Trump or White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders call the stories about the interference, or its investigation, a hoax perpetuated by sore-loser Democrats.

The nation's top intelligence officials say the U.S.is seeing signs of Russian meddling in upcoming midterm elections.

America will need to soon decide how to confront the threat of North Korea's nuclear weapons programme, a top official said.

They told members of the Senate intelligence committee Tuesday that they would provide more details in closed session.
