Apple is changing its iOS strategy to focus on reliability and performance

Apple releases Battery Health tool for iPhones The Best iPhone Apps (2018)
Olivia Ford | 15 February, 2018, 02:58

Typically Apple goes all out for its annual software upgrades and crams as many new features and upgrades into its mobile operating system as possible, and then tweaks things throughout the year with incremental updates.

In good news for iPhone users sick of buggy iOS software, Apple is revamping its entire development schedule to focus on perfecting what it's got instead of relentlessly churning out new features.

Apple declined the site's request for comment on the matter. This is just one of the many features set to arrive on the company's new iOS release codenamed "Peace".

The decision comes after criticism over the launch of some features launched with bugs (the weird autocorrect bug, for instance), while others (Apple Pay Cash, iMessage in the Cloud) were delayed well into the launch cycle.

Apple has also recently released features later than it expected, as the rush to meet the annual deadline overtaxed engineers and created last-minute delays.

The change could lead to more polished software update and less bugs. iOS 11 hasn't been flawless so far, for starters, with customers having to contend with autocorrect bugs, messages arriving out of order, and the calculator app misbehaving.

In recent times, the iPhone owners faced a number of glitches such as not being able to take calls or a bug that caused iPhones to crash a year ago. Individual apps aren't updated on their own, and everything is driven by the release schedule. Instead of having thousands of engineers rushing to complete their work by September, teams will have up to two years to complete a release. It's rumored to include new options that allow third-party applications to run across Macs, iPhones, and iPads (this change will also be folded into macOS 10.14). Not only has Android become way slicker than before, but Apple has started to put out buggier software, annoying iPhone and iPad users. There are also plans to improve the Do Not Disturb feature and Stocks app in the initial iOS 12 release. As per the report, the features that have been pushed to 2019 include a redesigned home screen, updates apps like Mail, and some reported tweaks in the Photos app.

Furthermore, the reports also point out that Apple will bring the Animojis to its FaceTime feature also, which will be capable of giving the allowance to consumers to use the Augmented Reality feature while they are on any video call.
