On Friday, Evans agreed to a five-year contract extension with the team, a transaction that was probably the most critical thing the team needed to accomplish this offseason.

Evans, 24, has been a force in Tampa Bay's offense since arriving as a first-round pick in 2014.

Evans now ranks third all time for the Buccaneers in receptions (309), third all time in yards (4,579), sixth all time in average yards per reception (14.82), and second all time in touchdowns (32).

Evans, who has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his four years in the National Football League, will earn $82.5m over five years according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, with $55m of that in guaranteed money.

On top of that, he has an opportunity to become Tampa Bay's all-time leader in receiving yards and touchdowns while being second in receptions, only behind James Wilder.

The new deal will pay him $16.5 million per year, moving him from the NFL's third-highest paid receiver to second, leapfrogging Jarvis Landry but still behind Antonio Brown. Glennon was drafted by the Buccaneers but joined the Chicago Bears in 2017. The team may have similar tasks in the years to come with the likes of Jameis Winston, Ali Marpet, Donovan Smith, Kwon Alexander and others. During that time, he's caught 309 passes for 4,579 yards and 32 touchdowns.

This past season, Evans totaled 71 catches, 1,001 yards and 5 touchdowns in 15 games.
