Fantasy Football Breaking News Packers set to go after Watkins, Graham, Robinson

The Saints and Packers are the two teams in the running for tight end Jimmy Graham, according to Greg Bell of the Seattle Times.

Nelson's 10-year run with the Packers ends as one of the top wide receivers in Green Bay history. The Packers announced Nelson's release shortly after the news broke.

Nelson, set to turn 33 in May, was scheduled to earn $10.25 million in 2018 and carry a salary-cap number of $12.52 million.

They caught just a combined 43 receptions for 689 yards and just one touchdown between them - the lowest productivity level for tight ends in the passing game since 2004.

Nelson, 32, had been a favorite target of Rodgers over recent years but struggled last season, finishing with just 53 catches for 482 yards and six touchdowns.

Nelson would immediately slot in as Seattle's number two receiving option and would benefit tremendously from having Russell Wilson as his quarterback, as opposed to Brett Hundley who was his primary QB a year ago in Rodgers' absence. The only other tight ends the Packers had on the roster before moving on Graham were ex-University of Wisconsin standout Lance Kendricks and youngster Emanuel Byrd. Graham would theoretically replace Martellus Bennett, who was released late last season.

Nelson, a 2014 Pro Bowler, was the 2016 NFL Comeback Player of the year after a broken leg which ended his 2015 campaign before it began, an injury in the 2015 preseason against Pittsburgh.
