Despite being off the air for about two decades, the two episode opener earned 18.2 million total viewers with a 5.1 rating among adults 18-49. Will & Grace's return previous year earned a 3.0 rating and 10.2 million viewers, and added another five million or so in delayed viewing, while The X-Files' first return in 2016 netted a 6.1 rating and 16.2 million viewers and ended up at 21.5 million viewers after delayed viewing.

ABC's "Roseanne" stars Ames McNamara as Mark, Sara Gilbert as Darlene Conner, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harris, Emma Kenney as Harris Conner, Jayden Rey as Mary, Roseanne Barr as Roseanne Conner, Michael Fishman as D.J. Conner, John Goodman as Dan Conner, Lecy Goranson as Becky Conner, and Sarah Chalke as Andrea.

The prime-time debut of "Roseanne" was a hit on Tuesday, garnering 18.2 million viewers - the highest-rated comedy show on any network in four years, according to ABC. Those numbers are unheard of today and makes "Roseanne" the highest rated sitcom now around.

What do you think about the Roseanne season 10 premiere ratings? The second episode at 8:30 scored a 5.3/21 and 18.6 million viewers. ABC says this is the highest-rated comedy telecast on any network in almost four years, since a season premiere of "The Big Bang Theory" in 2014, reports Entertainment Weekly.

"Roseanne" also found another big fan in the U.S. President's son Donald Trump Jr., who tweeted his congratulations to Barr and suggested she might consider hosting a late night show to offer an "alternate viewpoint".

"Honestly, people are giving me credit for getting it together, but honestly it was like kindling waiting to be ignited", she says.

The return of "Roseanne" was met with reactions of cheers and jeers on social media as the back-to-back return episodes sought to answer lingering questions from when the show ended on ABC in 1997, TV Guide reported.
