The 101st Airborne Division announced Saturday morning that two soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash on Fort Campbell late Friday night. Gen. Todd Royar, the deputy commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division, was quoted as saying in the statement.

The names of the deceased soldiers was not immediately released pending notification of next-of-kin. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The 101st Airborne specializes in helicopter assaults, meaning constant training and occasional crashes at Fort Campbell.

'Our thoughts and prayers are with the Families during this hard time, ' he added.

Also on Tuesday in Djibouti in East Africa a Marin Corps AV-8B Harrier crashed during takeoff. The pilot ejected from the plane before impact and survived the crash.

On Wednesday, a U.S. Air Force pilot with the traveling Thunderbirds exhibition squad died when his F-16 fighter jet crashed in Nevada.
