The Hague: The global watchdog working to eradicate chemical weapons is investigating reports of a suspected poison gas attack on the Syrian rebel-held town of Douma, its head said on Monday.

The foreign minister's special assistant for political affairs, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, said Iran opposes employing chemical weapons by any party which is totally unacceptable.

Russian Federation blamed Israel for the attack overnight between Sunday and Monday, saying that two Israeli Air Force jets F-15 jets fired eight guided missiles from Lebanese airspace at the T-4 airfield between Homs and Palmyra some 250 kilometers from Damascus.

Responding to the strike, Velayati told IRNA "Defenders of the holy shrines are still standing by the Syrian people and government and will continue their fight against the enemies of the Islamic Ummah, particularly the Zionist regime and its masters".

Israel did not acknowledge carrying out the strike.

Israel and America's Arab allies have long warned that Iran's growing influence in Syria is part of a plan to build "a land bridge from Iran to the Mediterranean Sea", which Block says would destabilize "the entire region from the ruins of Syria to the Yemeni desert".

Russian Federation denied any involvement in the attack. Maj.

The main rebel group in the area, Jaish al-Islam, had been holding out for a settlement that would allow it to remain and join a peace process proposed by the Russians under which rebel-held territories would eventually reconcile with the Assad government.

Sanaa: Yemeni tribal officials say a Saudi-led coalition airstrike has killed at least 15 people, including children, in the southwestern city of Taiz.

"Our military specialists have visited this place ... and they did not find any trace of chlorine or any other chemical substance used against civilians", Mr Lavrov said. The U.S. threatened military action but later backed down.

Russian Federation and Syria have consistently denied all the allegations of chemical attacks during the seven year old Syrian war, and in this instance have accused the rebels of staging a "false flag" incident to trigger United States intervention.

It should be noted that Israel is "believed" to have carried out the attack, but has not acknowledged a role in the bombing of air base T4.
