8-year-old boy attacks classmates with knife at elementary school in Minnesota Police: 2nd-Grader Brought Knife To School, Cut 3 Students

An 8-year-old student at Pleasantview Elementary School came to school with a knife Monday morning and attacked three fellow students, sending two of them to the hospital. The incident resulted in three students being injured and the aggressor was contained in the office.

Beise said the boy was released to his parents. Beise said the boy was interviewed by police and released to his parents. He says the kid brought the knife with him to the school and became aggressive with it and struck three other students.

The boy allegedly cut three children with the knife in less than a minute.

After bringing the situation under control, school authorities called police and an ambulance service, the AP said.

The incident occurred before classes had started.

The 8-year-old walked to the school office and put the knife down after the attack.

According to WCCO, children under the age of 10 can not be criminally charged. A Pleasantview primary-aged student entered the building and upon putting away his backpack, he pulled out a knife and began striking students with it.

An area elementary school is closing at the end of the school year.

Watkins said the school made mental health counsellors available to students and staff. Classes went on as scheduled.
