Most of the political ads about divisive issues that ran on Facebook Inc before the 2016 United States presidential election were sponsored by "suspicious groups" with no publicly available information about them, according to a study released on Monday and based on a database of five million ads on Facebook.

Facebook told Garaufis that content it hosts "is organic, and that Facebook is not responsible for it", Robert Tolchin, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said in a statement. In its proxy, Facebook says it does "not consider Mr. Zuckerberg's overall security to be a perquisite for his benefit", but now discloses the costs as "all other" compensation in the company's proxy.

Following the recent allegations aimed at Facebook about the company's over-storage of user data, spokespeople for the internet giant have confirmed that it has in fact been scanning and recording private direct messages, phone calls and even unpublished photo and videos. This, Facebook says its what it uses to make targeted ads or make its content better. We definitely don't sell your data! While this does not personally identify individuals, it does provide user demographic data to the websites and Facebook as part of its analytics service.

Zuckerberg said on Wednesday under questioning by US Representative Ben Luján that, for security reasons, Facebook also collects "data of people who have not signed up for Facebook".

A survey of 3,000 people by USA think-tank the Ponemon Institute, reported by The Financial Times, showed that users are significantly more sceptical that Facebook will handle their personal information with care than they were past year.

"One of those being that everyone globally on their Facebook page will see an alert leading them to the apps setting where they can review the apps they have allowed to access their data".

The European Union's digital chief will meet with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in San Francisco as the world's largest social network faces increasing scrutiny over its use of personal data.

But because Facebook is embroiled in a privacy and security mess after the revelation that data consulting firm Cambridge Analytica accessed information of up to 87 million Facebook users without their permission, it's the company that's having to do most of the explaining. So when a website uses one of our services, your browser sends the same kinds of information to Facebook as the website receives. For example, users can opt out of ads or delete their profiles.

But Facebook wouldn't budge, claiming that it would just be too hard for it to sift through its warehouses full of data just to find Dehaye's. If users want Facebook, Twitter and other social media, they have to pay with something - in this case, a reasonable amount of personal information to drive advertising.

Our opinion editor, who uses facebook regularly, has never seen him post. He didn't mention whether those other apps including Facebook's own Messenger, as well as Instagram and WhatsApp, which are also both owned by Facebook.
