Even Lil Wayne weighed in as Derrius Guice's NFL Draft stock plummeted

Lions-Football-2 Derrius Guice finally snapped up by Redskins after big draft drop

The Washington Redskins chose Alabama defensive lineman Da'Ron Payne on Thursday as their first pick during the 2018 NFL Draft. A few picks later, Guice would end up being selected by a familiar face in the Washington Redskins at No. 59, and while some questioned the decision by the Eagles to pass on the running back, it appears there may have been a legitimate reason behind the decision.

Chark only had two receiving touchdowns in his final year at LSU, but many scouts attributed that lack of production to a new offensive system rather than Chark's ability.

Guice also said he was taken aback by how the draft unfolded.

Guice is a first-round talent who slid to the second-round due to off-field concerns.

McShay said live on-air Friday night that National Football League executives told him that Guice was "late to meetings" and may have "accountability" issues.

Guice, who rushed for 1,153 yards and 11 touchdowns at LSU last season, is happy to be done with the draft process and says he's ready to get started on his career.

Next, DJ Chark was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars (joining former teammate Leonard Fournette) two picks after Guice - pick no. 61.

The NFL investigated and said this week that it found no evidence any team asked inappropriate questions during interviews at the scouting combine. He was the seventh running back taken in this draft. NFL Network reports sources describe Guice as "immature" and "high maintenance", noting some of his visits with teams did not go well.

The Redskins hope Guice solves their running back problem, something senior vice president of player personnel Doug Williams promised recently acquired quarterback Alex Smith he'd do.
