The band's statement said the members reunited to plan a virtual tour featuring digital avatars, and chose to go back into the studio.

There is a catch.

Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Faltskog - spread the word on its official Facebook page and Instagram on Friday. They have a joint record eight consecutive number-one albums in the UK. Full details were not released until yesterday, when they announced the concert featuring avatars created by digitally scanning and "de-aging" the four so they look like they did in 1979, during their third and final tour. It would be such hassle.

According to the group's manager Gorel Hanser, nothing had changed, "It was the same wonderful chemistry". The group has been working on developing Abbatar since 2016, and they plan to take the show on the road for a world tour tour.

Abba's Bjorn Ulvaeus previously said the pop sensations will never perform again because it would be "too enormous".

Hanser said of the new music: "The sound will be familiar, but also modern" The recording session "was like old times".

Abba has announced that they have recorded their first new music since 1983.

Incidentally, Faltskog had married Ulvaeus while Lyngstad married Andersson but the marriages did not work out.

Speaking about her need to live a life away from the spotlight, she told the Daily Mirror in 1981, "I am someone who is afraid of a lot of things".

Back together: The group appeared together after years of feuding at "Mamma Mia!". Yes, that's right: All four members of ABBA are making new music together.

The movie's sequel, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! will be released in theatres in July this year. On an Instagram post, the band shared new details about their reunion and their exciting next project.
