In response to an NBC report suggesting he called President Donald Trump an idiot, four star general and White House chief of staff John Kelly issued a statement Monday denying the allegations as "total B.S". What do you think that is filled with?

Kelly has denied the accounts via a message released by White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.

The NBC report claimed, among other things, that Kelly had said during an immigration-related meeting that he needed to "save (Trump) from himself" while insulting the President's intelligence by calling him an "idiot".

According to the unnamed senior officials, the chief of staff grew frustrated as tense negotiations continued to unfold as the president pursued an end to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

He has also pushed back against the president on some foreign policy and military issues, current and former White House officials said.

In one meeting, Kelly reportedly said, "He doesn't even understand what DACA is".

Officials told NBC that Kelly questioned aloud why Porter's alleged victims "wouldn't just move on".

A report by the Washington Post, based on interviews with 16 administration officials, outside advisers and presidential confidants, said Kelly no longer listened in on numerous president's calls, even with foreign leaders, and cast him as "the latest high-profile example of a West Wing Icarus - swept high into Trump's orbit, only to be singed and cast low". The report on Monday capped off weeks of what sources have described as a growing disconnect between Kelly and Trump. "He knows about my position and we both know that's utter nonsense", - said in a statement.

"He says stuff you can't believe", a senior White House official told NBC of Kelly.

Chief of Staff John Kelly looks out of the Oval Office onto the Rose Garden before the start of a news conference on Monday.

The White House spokespeople said they haven't seen Kelly have a negative effect on the morale of women staffers.

"Every day I am embarrassed that America chose you to be our president". Less than a year later, it looks like Kelly is the one who could use a bit of restraint. "He's an idiot", and "We've got to save him from himself".

"He has evolved in the way he's looked at things", Kelly said.

Tensions between Kelly and Trump have been brewing for weeks if not months.
