Under Armenia's constitution, the failure of parliament to confirm a prime minister triggers a second vote by the legislature that has been scheduled for May 8.

Noting that many corruption scandals in the world are offshore deals and money overseas, he proposed to establish a special state agency, for example, the ethics committee, for controlling accounts of Armenian officials at any spot all over the world.

Shortly before the vote, a leader of the Republican Party, which is allied to Sarksyan and has the majority in parliament, said it would not back Pashinyan because he did not have the qualities required to be a prime minister. He is the only candidate for this position. - Armenian opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan was engaged in high-stakes talks with the ruling party ahead of a key parliamentary vote, inching closer to taking power after two weeks of protests that transformed the country's political landscape.

On the same day, Armen Sarkissian, Armenian president accepted the government's resignation. For election to the post of Prime Minister Pashinyan must receive at least 53 votes in Parliament.

Mr Pashinian is the only candidate, but the chamber is controlled by the ruling party, and Mr Pashinian needs their votes to win.

Opponents of Sarkisian launched the protests, which brought thousands of Armenians out into the streets, saying the new system would have allowed pro-Moscow Sarkisian to remain the former Soviet republic's leader indefinitely.

"A revolution of love and tolerance is continuing", he said, also urging people to turn out for a huge rally Wednesday evening as the crowds chanted "Nikol!"

Tens of thousands of people had spent all day in the square outside Parliament waiting for the vote.

Mr Pashinyan, 42, has said he wants to call snap elections.

Speaking in an interview with AFP on Monday, Pashinyan said, "It was clear that Armenia is in the grip of a deep political crisis".

During debate, Republican lawmakers accused Pashinyan of being an irresponsible rabble-rouser and of lacking qualities to command the Armenian armed forces.
