Facebook is suspending about 200 apps it believes may have misused data Facebook is suspending about 200 apps it believes may have misused data

The scandal caused lawmakers in the United States to grill Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg about the company's policies and a "Delete Facebook" advocacy campaign briefly trended on social media. The U.K. Commissioner's Office has ordered the company to release all personal information and data it has on an American voting, which could open the floodgates for millions of USA voters to request their data back from the firm, according to The Guardian. Facebook says it has suspended approximately 200 other apps for using "large amounts" of profile information, pending investigations. New Scientist reports that approximately 280 individuals at various technological organizations were given access and, incidentally, that information wound up on a site that was exceptionally unreliable. The most grounded connect with the earlier data harvesting, however, is that the University of Cambridge's Psychometrics Center controlled the two informational indexes.

The app called "myPersonality" was created by University of Cambridge researchers.

Prosecutors have questioned potential witnesses in recent weeks, telling them that there is an open investigation into Cambridge Analytica - which worked on President Trump's election and other Republican campaigns in 2016 - and "associated US persons". The terms allow the myPersonality team to use and distribute the data "in an anonymous manner such that the information can not be traced back to the individual user".

The allegations of the improper use of data for millions of Facebook users by the firm, which was hired by President Donald Trump's 2016 U.S. election campaign, have prompted multiple investigations in the United States and Europe.

Facebook's head of public policy Rebecca Stimson mentioned that the Facebook CEO has no plans of appearing before the UK Parliament now.

Investigators have contacted Facebook, according to the newspaper.

"Cambridge Analytica may remain an organic user on our platform, in accordance with the Twitter Rules", the added.

KitGuru Says: Despite three million affected users being far smaller than that of the 87 million caught by Cambridge Analytica, it is still scarily similar in practice. Facebook declined to comment for the Times's report.

Mark Zuckerberg will no appear in the UK Parliament despite arrest threats being produced over data privacy breaches.
