After about three weeks out of the media spotlight, the U.S. first lady tried to ease anxiety and rapidly spreading speculations about her health as she continued to recover from a kidney condition. Four days later, Trump was checked in to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for what her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham in a press release described as, "an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition".

The first lady tweeted Wednesday that she's "working hard" and "feeling great". Along with the White House statements, Sadler also provided links to several news articles from conservative media outlets like Fox News and tweets from press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Asked about the first lady's health before he boarded the presidential helicopter on the South Lawn, Trump pointed to the second floor of the White House and said: "She's doing great". If not avoiding her husband at the "winter White House" in Florida, or from the top stories of Trump Tower in Manhattan, then where could she be?

"This is nothing new", Grisham said.

We haven't seen much of Melania Trump lately and it seems to be putting people on edge.

"I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing", Melania tweeted. Dr. Ronny Jackson, who has since left that post, told reporters that he'd arrange for a dietitian to consult with the White House chef to cut calories and recommend a low-impact, aerobic exercise program for Trump with the aim of shedding 10 to 15 pounds this year.

About two weeks after the surgery, anti-Trump Twitter personality "Tea Pain" claimed that Melania changed her personal Twitter account's location to New York City, where she was based for two decades prior to her husband's inauguration as president.

During her stay at the hospital, the first lady tweeted her appreciation to the medical staff and offered thanks to the public for the well wishes she received.

"She was hospitalised for nearly a week and is now home and recovering. Just looking at us, right there".

While many administrations have sought expert counsel in the past, former Obama advisor and email recipient Evan Medeiros speculated that the thinly-reported information was presented in an attempt to gain positive media attention and "fan tweets".
