You'll also notice in iOS 12 that Apple has moved the level feature from the Compass app to the Measure app.

Apple executives unveiled features at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday that they said would increase user privacy and "digital wellness", but also appear to be a shot Facebook's data-dependent business.

The new "Screen Time" feature creates detailed daily and weekly Activity Reports that show the total time a person spends in each app they use, their usage across categories of apps, how many notifications they receive and how often they pick up their iPhone or iPad.

The iPhone's Do Not Disturb feature will be enhanced, including new options that will automatically end Do Not Disturb based on a specified time or location. Parents can also use this system to monitor and remotely place limits on how their children use their own devices.

Past year saw the company unveil new iPad Pros, Macs and the first sighting of the new HomePod speaker. Parents can also add time limits to specific apps, allowing children on their phones for a select amount of time.

Also, the new iOS 12 introduces new AR Kit 2 which focuses on shared experiences, allowing many people to share the same virtual environment like creating content, playing games, or just sharing your creations.

All of the firm's key products including the Apple Watch, Apple TV and Macs are likely to see major changes but it's iOS 12 that is sure to be the most exciting announcement of the day.

"Now I'd like to take a moment to talk about something that's been on a lot of people's minds lately", said Apple's iOS boss, Craig Federighi.

Apple will encourage users to share photos with their friends by suggesting such opportunities in a new "for you" tab.

A few other questions linger over WWDC this year: Can Apple make augmented reality useful for more than cool demos?

Grouped notifications: We all get a rush of anxiety, or even panic when we see how many notifications our phone has racked up while away from it. Also noteworthy, Apple says that it's working on a way for iOS apps to be ported to the Mac.

Animoji got an update as well, letting users stick their tongues out and new versions, including Ghost, Koala, Tiger and T. rex.

Apple will roll out macOS Mojave to its MacBook line of devices this fall along with iOS 12. In other words, if you choose to reset the alternate appearance, you'll also have to clear out all existing data around your own face, too. The new feature that seems to be receiving the most ire, however, is group FaceTime video calls.

It looks like Apple is finally finally finally fixing one of the worst problems with the iPhone X: unwanted screenshots. Instead of saying Safari shouldn't block Like buttons or comment fields, Stamos argued Apple should have gone further.

"Great technology should improve life, not distract from it", reads Google's new digital wellbeing site. No need to go into the messages app to view and copy the code, as the app does all the heavy lifting for you.
