NORTH Korean leader Kim Jong-un will visit China today to brief President Xi Jinping on last week's summit with United States President Donald Trump, according to Japanese reports.

The plane that landed in Beijing was used during the historic summit between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump in Singapore last week, Kyodo reported.

Cheng Xiaohe, an associate professor of worldwide relations at Renmin University, said that while Kim had been expected to visit Beijing to brief Xi on the outcome of the Singapore summit, the fact it was his third visit in such a short period of time indicated how significant the meeting had been.

"We will be stopping the war games, which will save us a tremendous amount of money, unless and until we see the future negotiation is not going along like it should", Trump told reporters after his meeting last Tuesday with Kim in Singapore.

A motorcade was seen leaving the airport in vehicles that were not apparently carrying flags. That move is seen as potentially weakening defenses and diplomacy among America's Asian allies, while bolstering China and Russian Federation. "This shows that China is moving toward a healthier and more normal direction in relations with North Korea", Cheng said.

The White House has called for the North to take swift and clear disarmament measures before receiving any rewards, though Trump acknowledged at the summit that the meeting was "the beginning of an arduous process". The US had always insisted they are purely defensive in nature.

According to North Korean state media on Monday, Kim sent a "congratulatory letter and floral basket" along with his "warmest congratulations and comradely greeting to respected Comrade Xi Jinping" to celebrate his 65th birthday.

The visit is the North Korean autocrat's third to China since March, when he made his inaugural foreign trip as leader.

Even if Kim hears "no" for the time being, it's not going to be too hard for North Korea to play China and the U.S. against each other in the future. During their March meeting in Beijing, Xi told Kim that China had made a "strategic choice" to have friendly ties with North Korea and that they would "remain unchanged under any circumstances".

There are already signs of disagreement between the two sides of the pace and sequence of North Korea's disarmament and sanctions relief.

Cheng Xiaohe, an associate professor at Renmin University's School of International Studies in Beijing, said the frequency of Kim's visits was "unprecedented". After his talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Pompeo stressed the importance of China being a constructive participant in the next steps? after the Trump-Kim summit.

Kim is visiting China and there is a reason for this, he said.

Despite reports of differences, China remains a close ally of North Korea.

China has sounded out Japan and South Korea to hold a trilateral summit again in December in Beijing, hoping to further ramp up cooperation to denuclearize North Korea, diplomatic sources said.

"I believe that indicates that the blood alliance between the North and China has been completely restored", Yang said.

Trump recently ordered tariffs on $50 billion in Chinese goods in retaliation for alleged intellectual property theft.

"China will continue to play a positive role in this process, ?"
