The boat was carrying ten American tourists and two Bahamian nationals when it burst into flames Saturday morning, killing one American and injuring nine others, the Associated Press reports.

Stacey Schaffer and her daughter Stefanie were among 10 American tourists and two Bahamians who were on the boat when the explosion occurred. She remains in critical condition in a medically induced coma.

A GoFundMe page was created by the Schaffer family on Sunday to raise funds for medical and travel expenses. A passenger aboard a nearby boat captured the chaos on his cell phone as others helped pull people from the burning vessel. EMS Air Ambulance flew others for medical care at Nassau's Princess Margaret Hospital. Stacey is also in the hospital being treated for her injuries. She was riding with her sister Brooke and parents Paul and Stacey Bender on Saturday when the boat suddenly erupted.

Chester Cooper, a member of parliament for Exumas and Ragged Island, identified the person who died as an American woman.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

Four injured people were evacuated to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg, Florida, for treatment, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The Vermont Center for Dance Education said Ms Schaffer had been a part of their "dance family" for years.

Royal Bahamas Police Force Superintendent Shanta Knowles told the AP that 10 US citizens and two Bahamian crew members were on board the ship, which was embarking on a day trip near the Bahamas's Great Exuma Island.
