Powerful Republican Pulled Into Ohio State Molestation Scandal

Ohio lawmaker accused of ignoring abuse of Ohio State student-athletes Rep. Jim Jordan denies allegations he ignored sexual abuse of Ohio State wrestlers

"I'm sure that I talked to all of them on numerous occasions about my discontent with the environment".

"I believe him 100 percent". No question in my mind.

A senior member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, he chaired the Republican Study Committee in 2011 and 2012 and helped found the conservative House Freedom Caucus in 2015.

Jordan, whose name has been floated as a possible successor to retiring House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, has said since Ohio State announced in April that it was investigating former team doctor Richard Strauss that he was previously unaware of the molestation allegations.

What a rep for Jordan had to say after NBC News published its article: "Congressman Jordan never saw any abuse, never heard about any abuse and never had any abuse reported to him during his time as a coach at Ohio State".

Now anyone familiar with the president's relationship with factual evidence or with sex abuse allegations is very unlikely to take his word for Jordan's innocence unless they do so by blind faith in MAGA or really don't care what's true or false.

"I considered Jim Jordan a friend", DiSabato said.

"Jim knew this - there's no ifs, ands or buts", Michael DiSabato, one of the former wrestlers named in the NBC account, said Tuesday in an interview.

Jordan's denial conflicts with descriptions that the alleged abuse was rampant and well known in OSU wrestling circles.

Jim Jordan reportedly feels he's being bullied by an alleged victim of sexual abuse at Ohio State University, according to a CNN report, as he continues to deny any knowledge of the alleged abuse.

Kathleen Trafford, a spokeswoman for Porter Wright, tried calling Jordan's office on June 12 but Fury said "we have no record of a call". "Never heard of abuse", Jordan said.

In the video, Hellickson says he confronted Strauss about taking showers with the student athletes, and told the doctor he was making the wrestlers nervous.

Jordan has said he only learned about the abuse allegations this spring, when former students began speaking out. I believe Jim Jordan 100 percent.

A partner with Porter Wright Morris & Arthur said the investigative team had in fact contacted Jordan about an interview by email and phone.

Jordan's spokesman said the Republican congressman is now working with investigators to set up a meeting. He recalled an incident where Strauss - whose locker was next to Jordan's - had dressed after a shower to leave the building, but then disrobed and went back in for another one after noticing a favorite athlete entering the shower room. Jordan was among the people Yetts told about groping the first time in happened in 1992, Yetts told The Associated Press Tuesday.

Dr. Strauss's inappropriate touching of athletes was open knowledge, he said, and he remembered talking about it with Mr. Jordan on road trips, in the sauna and after practices.
