Russia Investigation: Giuliani Says He’s Not Sure Collusion Is a Crime

Giuliani took to the airwaves Monday to keep up the president's attacks on Mueller, who is heading the Russian Federation probe, and faulted him for failing to publicly buttress Trump's position regarding a leaked recording of a tape between Trump and his longtime lawyer Michael Cohen discussing a payment involving a former Playboy playmate.

In attempting to refute the claims, the president's lawyer, Barry Zuckerkorn Rudy Giuliani, said that he talked to witnesses to the Trump-Cohen conversation about the Trump Tower meeting, and it was, um, it was not about the Trump Tower meeting (?). The meeting has become a central focus of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether anyone within Trump's campaign colluded with Russian Federation to interfere in meddling in the last USA presidential election. "If they [Mueller's investigation] rely on him.it would destroy whatever case they have".

"He can not be believed", Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer for Trump, told Reuters on Thursday, referring to Cohen.

On Sunday morning, Trump resurfaced an old tweet from Cohen in 2017 that showed him praising Donald Trump Jr. for his transparency regarding a meeting with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower. But there's what I believe is one pretty big admission that is at least very new to me and I think a pretty big problem for Trump and Giuliani.

Guiliani explained in a Sunday interview with Face The Nation that investigators had shared the recordings with Trump's legal team to review and waive attorney-client privilege after seizing them from Cohen in April. According to CNN, federal prosecutors have received a total of 12 audio recordings seized by the FBI, including the McDougal conversation - which is reportedly the only tape in evidence that features Cohen and Trump. "He's been lying all week, or for two weeks - he's been lying for years", Giuliani told CNN. Talk of more to come.

President Trump's defense in the Russian Federation investigation has been a study in goal-post moving - constantly watering down previous denials and raising the standard for what would constitute actual wrongdoing.

"I don't even know if that's a crime - colluding with Russians", Giuliani said on CNN.

Cohen's camp has denied being the source of the CNN report, the basic substance of which The Associated Press independently confirmed.

Trump Jr. told the Senate Judiciary Committee that he did not remember with whom he spoke at that time, but others testified that his father, Donald Trump, uses a blocked line. "Whatever spin Mr. Giuliani is trying to invent, it says 'cash, ' and Michael Cohen says 'no, no, no'". As recently as May, Giuliani called Cohen "an honest, honorable lawyer".

Guiliani would not discuss the conditions his team is requesting for Trump to participate in an interview, but hinted that the President's legal team was interested in limiting the discussion to events before the election.

His lawyer, Davis, a Democrat once known as a fierce defender of President Bill Clinton, would not comment on whether Cohen was fishing for a deal.
