Trump echoes Giuliani defense: 'Collusion is not a crime'

Trump urges Mueller to admit conflict of interest in pending investigation Donald Trump says collusion 'is not a crime,' insists his campaign did not collude with Russia

"The president didn't hack", Giuliani said on CNN.

"I'm happy to tell Mueller that Trump wasn't at the Trump Tower meeting", Giuliani said.

President Trump has repeatedly denied any accusations of collusion, and has branded the Mueller investigation a politically motivated "Witch Hunt", started by his political opponents on a false premise.

The former NY mayor went on to say, "They can squeeze him, [but] Paul Manafort does not know anything...what I'm saying is, he was not involved with intimate business relationships with Donald Trump".

On Tuesday, he echoed his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, who said in television interviews on Monday that collusion is not a crime. However, even Gollum knew in his heart that stealing was a crime, so perhaps he could teach Giuliani a thing or two about what is or isn't illegal.

"Right now I'm telling him 'no way, '" he said, asking why Trump would testify in an investigation that has "no legitimacy".

Trump has reluctantly acknowledged Russian interference in the election, but has called the investigation "a big hoax" to explain his upset victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Special counsel Robert Mueller has enough evidence to charge the Trump campaign with conspiring to collude with Russian Federation to affect the 2016 presidential race, a former high-ranking Federal Bureau of Investigation official says. "But there's no collusion", Trump said.

Trump held a private meeting with Comey on February 14, 2017, in the Oval Office.

In Trump's case, collusion is not a crime-it's many crimes.

A source familiar with the secret testimony of key Trump Tower meeting participants to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees told NBC News that none of them ever raised the issue of a strategy session to get ready for the meeting.

Stephen Colbert kicked off Tuesday's Late Show with the trial of Paul Manafort, President Trump's former campaign chairman.

Mr. Giuliani was dismissing these allegations when he argued that collusion can't be criminal. But, as his attorney Rudolph Giuliani did on Monday, Trump muddied those waters today. And as Robert Mueller ramps up the pressure and former Trump officials are heading to court - albeit on charges unrelated to Russian Federation - the game is on for the White House PR team to get ahead of criticism aimed at Donald Trump's path to the Oval Office.
