Britain to publish more 'no deal' Brexit advice papers

UK will still have to pay Brussels in a no-deal Brexit says Philip Hammond UK driving licences may be invalid in EU after a no-deal Brexit

Colin Ellis, chief author of the report, said that while the United Kingdom and European Union "would likely take swift steps to limit short-term disruption", such a situation would still pose more significant credit challenges than a negotiated exit.

Mr Raab, who will hold talks with EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier in Brussels on Friday, said: "With six months to go until the United Kingdom leaves the European Union, we are stepping up our "no-deal" preparations so that Britain can continue to flourish, regardless of the outcome of negotiations".

Regarding the EU Earth observation programme Copernicus, the papers said that in a no-deal scenario, the United Kingdom will no longer be able to participate in it or have a role in how it is run.

Theresa May's Cabinet met for three-and-a-half hours to discuss preparations for a no-deal Brexit, with ministers receiving a briefing from the Governor of the Bank of England Mark Carney.

Raab told BBC radio he did not believe May's government would lose a vote in parliament on the deal.

It added that leaving without a deal would not prevent United Kingdom mobile operators making and honouring commercial arrangements with mobile operators in the EU.

"They also illustrate the extent of the disruption consumers can expect if ideology wins over evidence".

"These notices make clear firms would be hit with a sledgehammer in the event of "no deal", said Carolyn Fairbairn, Director-General of the CBI business lobby.

"It also begs the question of how this will be enforced and raises legitimate concerns over lengthy border delays if permits are to be checked". These cost £5.50 and are available from Post Offices.

"If that happens then the queues of HGVs in Kent will make the jams seen in the summer of 2015 appear as little more than waiting for the traffic lights to change", it adds.

Barnier said on Twitter that he had had a "useful dialogue" with Raab but that key differences remained between the European Union and Britain over the future of the Irish border and the EU's system of protecting food names. "So I think it needs to be ruled out".

"The UK does not require visiting motorists ... to hold a separate IDP to guarantee the recognition of their driving licence", the government document states.

"If that doesn't happen, the United Kingdom will manage the challenges of no-deal, so we make a success of Brexit".
