As several news outlets pointed out, the drinking age for beer and wine in Maryland, where Kavanaugh lived and went to school, was raised from 18 to 21 in July 1982, seven months before his 18th birthday.

Time and again, Kavanaugh returned to his defense of drinking. "And yes, the seniors were legal".

In testimony Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, he said all of his comments during the Fox interview were accurate and could be made part of the record.

The White House argued Friday that Kavanaugh's testimony about drinking was not meant to be misleading, but provided "context" about how Maryland high schoolers obtained beer. I drank beer with my friends.

"There is a bright line between drinking beer, which I gladly do, and which I fully embrace, and sexually assaulting someone, which is a violent crime". I liked beer. I still like beer... The drinking age, as I noted, was 18, so the seniors were legal, senior year in high school people were legal to drink.

What's true in college is also true in high school: It is quite common for students to drink, even though it's illegal.

President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh mentioned beer and enjoying beer nearly 30 times while denying drunkenly sexually assaulting Christine Blasey Ford.

"I liked beer. Still like beer".

"Still, the problem for me is, he really didn't answer the question about if there have been incidences where he didn't partially remember what happened". "One saw a flash in the exchange with Klobuchar the same sense of entitlement, cruelty and lack of simple decency that Christine Blasey Ford allegedly experienced way back when, the memory seared in her brain of two obnoxious teens laughing at her ordeal". After describing her father's longtime struggle with alcoholism, Klobuchar started asking Kavanaugh if he ever drank too much and blacked out. I drank a lot in college, too much on more than a few occasions, but never found myself in a situation where I could not remember what had happened the night before or needed other people's help to piece it together.

"You're asking about blackout, I don't know, have you?"

Klobuchar: "Could you answer the question, judge?" Klobuchar asked. "That's not happened, is that your answer?" "I don't know. Have you?"

"Whatever else he was saying, there's no doubt that he was a heavy drinker and he told the exact opposite statement", Brown said "So his lies, I think, are relatively well-proved and I hope the Federal Bureau of Investigation can figure that out".

"Yeah, and I'm curious if you have", Kavanaugh said.

The legal drinking age was 18 in Washington, D.C., throughout the years Kavanaugh attended Georgetown Prep.
