Fight at Charlotte-area high school leads to fatal shooting

The shooting happened at Butler High School located at 1810 Matthews-Mint Hill Road around 7:10 a.m. just as school began.
"I can just tell you that the shooter was taken into custody by Matthews Police Department, and his family is aware as well", Tyrrell said.
While police have not confirmed what kind of gun was used, Wilcox said: 'I don't know how a young person gets a handgun in the state of North Carolina'.
The police department said on Facebook that the shooting was believed to be an isolated incident and that the scene has been secured.
High school student Jorge Sanchez told WSOC-TV in Charlotte that the shooting happened as the result of an argument that escalated.
Authorities said bullying led to the shooting and the conflict started several days before the fatal encounter. The school's website says that there are 2123 students enrolled in the school.
"We hear the bell ring and I see two kids are wrestling", said Lane McNary. "We're incredibly sad, and we're sorry for this family", Wilcox said. She said, "I left because of the bullying and the fights". "We will review procedures and security plans and perhaps will do things that are a little more aggressive".
The lockdown at Butler High School has been lifted by law enforcement. When they arrived to find their children absent, dozens of parents took matters into their own hands, marching over a highway overpass and crossing police barricades to assemble at the doors of the school. Law enforcement has advised that there is no further immediate danger at this time and initial investigation shows this to be an isolated incident.
Many initially gathered at the nearby Elevation Church to pray after the incident as they waited to hear news.
