Trump sparks outrage with ‘racist’ immigration ad ahead of midterm elections

Michael Bloomberg the billionaire former mayor of New York City has pumped more than $40 million into super PACs in October Trump Tweets Controversial Video of Immigrant Cop Killer

Wednesday, the president pinned a video to the top of his Twitter feed that shows a convicted cop killer, smiling broadly and laughing in court while vowing to "kill more cops" if he is ever released.

Not surprisingly, the backlash was swift and focused, with the general consensus being that president Trump had ripped a page out of George H.W. Bush's book by channeling the infamous Willie Horton ad; a video that's always haunted Bush Sr.as a moral low point in his political career.

The ad includes footage of Luis Bracamontes, a Mexican man who entered the United States illegally and killed two police officers in Sacramento in 2014, despite having been deported twice before.

The captions read: "Illegal immigrant, Luis Bracamontes, killed our people!"

It includes scenes of a migrant caravan moving toward the U.S., warning ominously, "Who else would Democrats let in?" and suggesting that more violence would soon penetrate the border. Mr Dukakis went on to lose to Republican George HW Bush.

Joining with her fellow conservative Washington Post colleague, Max Boot, Rubin said Trump and the complicit GOP members have given every Republican a reason to walk away from the party next Tuesday and vote for Democrats. The ad ends with the tag: "President Donald J. Trump and Republicans are making America Safe Again!", a play on Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan. "There is no stronger metaphor for racial hatred in our country than the black man raping the white woman", Susan Estrich, Dukakis' campaign manager, said at the time.

The video stood in stark contrast to an ad circulated by the Trump campaign earlier in the week that highlighted rosy economic numbers and depicted gauzy scenes of American suburban life.

In a first reaction, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez said the ad was a sign of desperation and suggested that Trump was losing the argument over health care that is at the center of the Democratic campaign. That video was timed to the one-year anniversary of Trump's inauguration and meant to promote his immigration agenda.

Bracamontes was sentenced to death in April for killing Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County Sheriff's Detective Michael Davis Jr.in a daylong crime spree that began at a Motel 6 on Arden Way and ended in Auburn.
